Beta Statistics Are Out!

That is right people, you deserve some praise. You did it. You made it through a month of beta and came out alive. However, is that really praise worthy? Not really, but what is praise worthy is what you people did with that month. As of this post, there were over 2,800 threads and over 13,700 posts made on the Epic forums in the Gears 3 Beta Issues section. You people posted a ton of bugs, glitches, snafus, and problems on the Epic forums and that is pretty incredible.

Major Nelson posted up some incredible numbers for the beta. There were people playing in 145 different countries, with more than 11 millions matches completed for over 249 years worth of time. You people racked up more than 927 million kills, earning a total of 4.9 billion ribbons and 291 million medals. 435,000 people unlocked the Thrashball Cole skin, with 234,000 people unlocking the Gold Retro Lancer to use in the retail game.

These numbers helped Epic out a great deal, and simply put, everyone who participated in the beta made the game better. That is right people; you made the game better by simple playing the beta. For every bug that was found and posted, Epic is working these next few months until release to fix everything. Several forum members posted stuff that we know has been fixed or will be fixed. For example:

Forum member AHal noticed that for weapons skin the unlocks week 4 showed a second unlock for the Flame Hammerburst instead of the Flame Gnasher. An epic employee going by the handle Crzyhomer posted, “Wow! You can blame me alone for this one. Although the text is wrong, the Gnasher will indeed be flaming just for you come Week 4.”

NFI noticed that the torque bow did not rumble when aiming. He was responded to by another Epic employee going by the handle TroyMcClure, “Nice Find. It was a legit bug. So once Gears 3 releases, when you use the torque, take a bit of pride in knowing you helped make it better. ”

Another bug found by forum member NeMeSIS446 was where his COG teammate was showing up as a Locust. TroyMcClure posted once again, “We are currently aware of this issue and will be resolved in the final release of the game. Thank you for posting!”

Several people posted about problems with the grenade platform on Check Out and TroyMcClure responded, “We are definitely aware of this, and hope to have a satisfactory resolution for the final game. Thank you for posting!”

These are just a few examples of some bugs found, but whatever bug you posted on the Epic forums, you can have a sense of pride in the fact that you actually made the game better. If you think about it, since all you beta testers did something to make the game better, then you, in a way, worked on Gears of War 3, and it is a product of your labor too. For that, you should all give yourselves a big round of applause. You worked on a game that will be amazing. Feel proud and enjoy the game even more knowing you helped make it better when it hits September 20th.

I think one of your advertisements caused my internet browser to resize, you might want to put that on your blacklist.

This weblog appears to get a good ammount of visitors. How do you get traffic to it? It offers a nice unique twist on things. I guess having something authentic or substantial to give info on is the most important factor.
